Structure elements (business objects) that are manipulated by behavior.

The passive structure elements are the structure elements (business objects) that are manipulated by behavior, such as business processes or functions.

The passive entities represent the important concepts in which the business thinks about a domain.

In the Business Layer, there are two main types of passive structure elements: business object and representation. Furthermore, a contract, used in the context of a product, is a specialization of a business object.
