Introduction

Over time, Modelio has become a multiformalism tool, supporting several standards and metamodels, such as UML, BPMN, ArchiMate, etc.

The links between those formalisms are often embodied by traceability links. But traceability links only provide a reduced semantics and can be used to bind anything and everything.

Modelio 3.8 introduces a solution to this situation with its new Methodology feature.

In Modelio, a methodology consists of a set of well defined methodological links which the user can use to bind model elements, even if they come from different metamodels.

Each methodological link brings its own precise semantics and linking rules, making it as simple to use as possible.
